Pop stars sing for Haiti : do you think it will make a difference?

So every one from Leona Lewis, JLS, Rod Stewart,  Michael Buble, Robbie Williams, Coldplay, Take That and Sir Paul McCartney are lending their pipes for the cause.

The pop stars will be doing a version of R.E.M's Everybody Hurts and the song has been backed publicly by Simon Cowell. How do you guys feel about this and how much of a difference do you think it will make?

It will obviously direct even more attention to the problems in Haiti, but it should not divert attention away from the fact that money alone will not solve Haiti's problems. Once the immediate humanitarian crisis is over, we should divert attention to creating a strong Haitan society with good governance, so that they are prepared to respond more efficiently should anything dreadful like this happen again.
I think we need to remember about the long term impacts of the earthquake, supporting Haiti in their hour of need is all very well but where were we when they were struggling in poverty over the last decades.
People talk about stopping poverty and combining the efforts of MEDCs to stop poverty but what chance do we have if we can't even help a poor country in our own back yard. It is all very well to talk about helping reduce poverty but it takes a horrific natural disaster for us to realise that Haiti exists, is located in the richer part of the world and yet it is horrendously poor and steeped in poverty.
I think that it will make a very small difference but a little money can go a long way.
Course it will make a difference, these people are from all generations of people & what music they are into i think it will highlight the suffering in Haiti and people will sit up & listen the same as they did for live aid.
Haha (!)
Another attempt at glamourising charity :)
Sure, the money will be useful, but when i was young, i was told that when giving gifts, it's the thought that counts.
For whatever reason, I think Simon Cowell had a little more than 'humanitarian relief' on his mind when he organised that little charity song.
If he was really that bothered about saving Haiti, he would have had minions singing for a change in Government; one that could invest its efforts in healthcare and education rather than mass extorsion on a pandemic scale.
Yep, everybody hurts. Especially now.
