Earthquakes

Many earthquakes have occured. In MEDCs (more economically developed countries), they are better equipped to handle natural disasters; however, the poorer countries (LEDCs) are not. I wrote this article as if it were a year on from the 1995 Kobe earthquke to explain earthquakes and show how Japan was before it adapted to over come natural disaster.Tokyo still burdened with Kobe earthquake tragedyAnalysis of Kobe causes and aftershocks can minimise future earthquake disaster.By Alisha BurmanLast…See More

Fairtrade, Arms trade and my campaign to control amrs trade :)

Hi Everyone,I know I have not been on here much - I have been smothered with coursework and revision - fun. I just wanted to say that I have been doing some things in my little quiet period.I made some videos on fairtrade and poverty! (can't seem to upload them though)I met George Alagiah at my local town's fairtrade debate with an official from the Fairtrade Organisation and 3 local MPs.I distributed leaflets at a Fairtrade FairI am one of the four members who started a campaign to control…See More

We had a discussion on this topic today in class and it was interesting to see everyone's views. What do you think are the benefits or are you, like the minority of the class, who disagress with multi-culturalism?

Global Warming

Unlike a greenhouse, the Earth does not have a layer of glass over it! Instead, molecules in our atmosphere called greenhouse gasses absorb the heat. Greenhouse gasses include water vapour, methane, ozone, nitrous oxide, and carbon dioxide. There may not be much of some of these gasses in our atmosphere, but they can have a big impact. Each greenhouse gas molecule is made of three or more atoms that are bonded loosely…

Deforestation - What has happened?

A survey was taken, by the Brazilian government, between August 2006 and July 2007, about the decrease of Brazilian rainforests. They realised in that time 2.7 million acres disappeared. Actually, they didn’t disappear because we all know what happened to them. Right? THEY WERE CUT DOWN! To put that into terms we know, that’s the equivalent of four football pitches being destroyed every minute in just Brazil. This affected animals and insects obviously as that’s their natural habitat but also… Continue
