Fairtrade, Arms trade and my campaign to control amrs trade :)

Hi Everyone,
I know I have not been on here much - I have been smothered with coursework and revision - fun. I just wanted to say that I have been doing some things in my little quiet period.

  • I made some videos on fairtrade and poverty! (can't seem to upload them though)
  • I met George Alagiah at my local town's fairtrade debate with an official from the Fairtrade Organisation and 3 local MPs.
  • I distributed leaflets at a Fairtrade Fair
  • I am one of the four members who started a campaign to control arms trade.
So here is the website I made explaining more on our campaign and what arms trade actually is.

We made a twitter page (which WHRN is following :D) and a facebook group. There have even been leaflets, posters and petitions that have been distributed locally.

Our aim is to raise awareness of the arms trade among teenagers - we are doing this by getting schools to include it in their citizenship curriculum. We have sent emails to local school and had a meeting with our headteacher who agreed to discuss it with the head of citizenship. :)

Also, we have produced a sample lesson plan and resources - just say if you would like some.

Hey Alisha!

I think its really amazing that you guys have taken such initiative to spread a positive message :) Checked out your website as well, but wondering if you could put up your vids? I think we have a youtube account on WHRN that oyu could use to upload the video to YouTube, and then you could put a link from there, would that be useful? If so send me a messsage and I can try to send you some information on how to use it :)

And hope the coursework calms down- I can totally relate!
